This blog has been a long time coming. Much procrastination and excuses ultimately led me to just get over myself and become a blogger to document the craziness of our life & the beauty that comes despite it.

Having two boys 15 months apart {yep, I was the crazy lady you saw who had a 6 month old and was already pregnant again!} and then adopting two beautiful kids from Ethiopia this past year, has made me realize I’d better document this stuff…I know I simply will not remember all the details.

So here we are. A family of 6 {for now}. Three boys and a baby girl. Craziness, loudness, mess, and all the in between. The raw, real, Anderson family.

Oh and our name, Hugs & Punches…!

I’ve gotta tell you where it came from because it’s the perfect description of our middle boys, Anton & Laith. When Anton {the sensitive, loving one} was two, he gave one year old Laith {the crazy one, we call him “Crash”} a hug and said, “I love you Laith!” And little Laith turned and punched him square in the face.

Yep. That’s our family.

We’d love to hear from you, drop us a line anytime

{especially about our adoptions…we’re an open book on it all}

I wanted to introduce myself and tell you how much I like your blog. I came across it on a JDC post about blog class success stories. I recently signed up for the class and have been working on my blog the last couple of weeks. It’s a lot of work! It makes me appreciate all the work and effort of other bloggers. Anyway, you’ve done a great job on your site. I love Stella & dot as well. Thank you for your inspiration.

Hi Kelly! I’m so glad you introduced youself!! I have to tell you…ohmygosh Sophia is DARLING!!! What a precious little girl!! I’m having a hard time with the fact that we no longer have a baby in the house. Sigh, I want another one ; )

I’m excited to see where your blog takes you! Emily’s class has been so amazing for me. I’m sure it has been for you, too!! Thanks so much for your sweet words, my blog has taken LOTS of getting up at 4:30 in the morning to work on it before the kids wake. Lots of cups of coffee, haha.

Glad you love Stella & Dot too! You’re obviously stylish yourself…if you’d ever like more info on it, let me know! It’s been a FANTASTIC way to earn extra money for the family. Fun and whenever I want to work! Love that.

Ben posted the world’s most creative b-day party : ) on our GoRuck Tough page, and now I can’t stop reading your awesome blog. Thank you for sharing your life, heart, challenges, and joys with the public. I think it’s so valuable for people to have insight into the joys and challenges others go through, so each person knows they are not alone in the same things. You are simply amazing!! And how you also stay so beautiful just blows my mind!

    Hello Teresa,

I began following your blog a while back after Emily Jones mentioned you on her blog. I finally sat down tonight to read every one of your posts and I am sooooo intrigued with your family! You and your husband sound like 2 amazing people who are so genuine & down to earth! I look forward to watching your family grow :)

PS- I would LOVE to know how you stay so skinny with 6 kids!! Secrets?? :)

    1. hugs & punches says:

Hi Taylor! So glad you’ve found us through Emily…I’m humbled that she chose me to feature that day! :D
It’s chaos around here but we’re loving every second. So excited to have the newest 2 {{finally}} home!

As for staying thin, I think it’s largely because our family is so active and I never get the chance to sit down, haha. But I do belong to a gym and have fallen in love with Boxing. I have a feeling I’m going to struggle getting there for awhile because of all the changes in our house so I’m planning on having a friend of my husband make some sort of workout schedule that I can do at home…WITH baby Elsabet.

If I feel like it’s a help/success for me, maybe I’ll do a post on it! Would love to help other moms & women stay healthy and feel beautiful though ALL our lives are crazy and fitness is often one of the first things we sacrifice!

Thanks so much for reaching out to me! {{take joy}} xo

  8. Wow. Word’s cannot express the joy your blog has brought to my life in the past 30 minutes. A friend who lives in Denver knew about your blog and told me to read it when my husband and I announced we were adopting. The Lord brought me here for a reason! Your family is amazing and your children are so blessed. In him, Laurel

    1. hugs & punches says:

oh Laurel, I’m THRILLED you’ve found us!! Congratulations on adopting, it’s such a beautiful {yet stretching} experience. May the Lord bless you and your family!!!!
